    Jass, I agree with you, I do not like this if you're trying to grow your hair! 🙄Heat is a strand 'killer'! 🥵That's too much heat and product; which can cause buildup on your scalp! 😡I'm not trying to wash my hair every two to three days! 🤬Thanks for sharing this video!😊

    Great video. I'm have 4a/b hair and I can get a week to two weeks out of my wash n' go. I have very tightly coiled hair, so its not true that the tighter the curl a wash n' go doesn't last more than 2 days. Must say I'm loving the way you have styled your hair with the scarf. Hey Jass, well my hair is definitely different. I tried Anthony's method years ago on my hair and it shrunk beyond recognition. My hair loves moisture but if I just leave it to dry naturally without heat it shrinks. I rather do twist outs. Oh.. that shrinks too.... just saying.

    Wash n go's just cause tangling, matting, and single strand knots for me. And would take hours to detangle. I haven't done one in years. Don't plan on going back. I've found what works for my 4C/4B hair. Finally, retaining length and minimizing breakage.

    Jass if this wasn't on your channel, there is no way I would have watched a Wash N Go video. So thank you so much for sharing this. My hair is long with no shape, so I have not bothered with trying a wng since my TWA days. BUT I picked up several important things. Anthony talked about how conditioner "relaxes"' the hair. I wondered about this concept of conditioners "relaxing" hair, few years ago when the youtube natural hair community learned about the beautiful 4c ladies from Chad who used Chebe. I was reading comments on a Chebe videos and someone said, "that's like leaving conditioner on your hair and never rinsing it off." Then I combined that information with the Curly Like Me (remember her?) technique. Now Teri LaFlesh also preached the gospel of conditioners, conditioners, condiitioners, conditioners, leaving conditioners like Aussie Moist on your hair. Now I learned all of this information YEARS ago, but it didn't click. Then about I'd say about 4 months ago, I don't even know why but I started to put GOOO GOBS of conditioner (and grease) on my hair--layer after layer after layer--leaving it on and steaming it, then washing my scalp only so that a lot of the conditioner/grease stayed on my hair. After doing this every washday, which for me is every 3-5 days (Anthony said in the video co wash frequently. Also the Chebe ladies reapply every 3 days) I could see my 4c curl pattern elongate. But I thought maybe it was my imagination until I saw this WNG video. The expert said it: "Conditioners relax the hair." Keep in mind I'm taking care of my hair in 25 plaits that I keep in groups of 4 (like the Chebe ladies💃🏿) not WNG. But I noticed the elongation and less tangles too. In terms of price, I use the Tresseme Moisture Rich knock off brand from Dollar General, which is like $5 and Blue Magic gease which I think is under $3.

    Yes I do the Anthony Dickey method and I wear a WNG 70% of the time and yes my hair and scalp is thriving I only wash my hair weekly tho I tweak the method to fit my lifestyle instead of co washing I shampoo, deep condition with the TGIN moisturizing line and style with Anthony Dickey Curly Whip and apply the Anthony Dickey hydrating balm to keep my hair moisturized every 2 days until wash day which is every 7 days. Once your hair has reached maximum hydration your WNG will start to hold definition longer

    I disagree with you. It is your natural curl pattern. When you wet your hair, your curls are present. All you’re doing is adding a styling product to set those curls. You’re not twisting or braiding the hair to make the curls. However, we are all entitled to our opinion/views. Using heat to stretch the style is optional.

    • @AlopeciaFreeWithJass
      @AlopeciaFreeWithJass 3 дні тому

      Thank you for sharing your perspective 🙂. I guess my question is that he says using alot of conditioner & using heat is all about relaxing your curl pattern and changing your hair texture, so isn't that the same as using heat to relax or loosen your curls to be more straightened to achieve other hair styles?

    • @naturalcurls4life576
      @naturalcurls4life576 3 дні тому

      @@AlopeciaFreeWithJass I have worn w n g’s. Conditioner helps to detangle and it reveals your curls. I don’t believe it changes your curl pattern. If you don’t set your curls while wet & moisturized, your hair dries and with lack of moisture the hair frizzes. That why it is important to lock in the curls when wet. You are locking in moisture as well as your curls. I don’t care for heat stretching. I have seen videos where heat damage was caused from repeatedly applying heat to the same area. I don’t necessarily agree with the choice of words he uses. I think he is trying to make it easy for people to understand. There are only 2 ways to relax our hair: heat and a chemical relaxer. Wash n go’s are healthy and you can grow your hair rocking that style. I love to see our beautiful natural curls.

    I have 4a hair, and I started using Anthony Dickey method this year in January… my hair and scalp are literally thriving and I am loving my curls. I do struggle because my hair is not cut in a style. The more I wash, the less conditioner I need. I use Nexus Humetress conditioner or the 2chic Ultra-Moist Shampoo and Conditioner Set- Avocado & Olive Oil, Creamy Hydration Conditioner. You can use a cheap conditioner with slip, or his Hair Rules brand. This method took me from a wash and no to loving the wash and go. I would say at least try it. Give it at least four days to try and see how your hair transforms. The only thing I don’t like is having to dry it afterwards every day. But I’m not an Air dry girl. My hair will shrink all the way up.

      Same, I started doing his method in September but I did tweak it. I started doing it 3 times and weak for 2 months. Once my hair reached maximum hydration, it started to last me 7 days. I don't let it get dried out, tho I use his hydrating finishing balm to keep it hydrated throughout the week in my pfp. My WNG is 6 days old and very hydrated.

    • @lashundavis4231
      @lashundavis4231 3 дні тому

      @AlopeciaFreeWithJass he's not altering your curl that's your natural curl pattern when it's fully hydrated and full of water now you do want to use your blow dryer to stretch your hair after it dries so it's easier for your shedded hair to be released

    • @ramahh979
      @ramahh979 3 дні тому

      @@lashundavis4231 absolutely correct. The AD method did not change my curls themselves, but it did absolutely change the hydration and moisture in my curls. I didn't realize how dehydrated my hair and scalp was until I started this method. So the conditioner washing does elongate my hair but it being high porosity, it loses the moisture quickly if I don't seal it in. The drying process helps keep its stretched, but I don't use high heat. I use high speed, low heat on the dryer

    • @ramahh979
      @ramahh979 3 дні тому

      @@AlopeciaFreeWithJass honestly the wash day is so much easier! I did also tweak it to add Leave in conditioner before the styler while in shower 🚿 to lock in moisture. My leave in contains aloe vera to seal the cuticles. I hope you give it at least a week when you have some down time. The more you do it, the less time it takes. I don't let my hair dry out, so it's now every 2-3 days for me

    Just watch this video! ua-cam.com/video/WAw1iANuh_8/v-deo.htmlsi=i2K1kMS9Ztj2YP-F A WDNG is definitely not cost effective or practical to maintain on a consistent basis for length retention for us more tightly coiled girlies. Also the longer our hair gets the more it’s going to cost us financially, in retaining the most length and in putting in the time. Just like some natural’s would occasionally do a silk press in the cool/cold months I would only do a WDNG occasionally on the warm/hot months!

As for the scripture our hair is our covering thats why in that chapter it says that its a shame for a man to have long hair as that hair is covering his head and also is it a shame for a woman to be shorn (bald). If our hair is long flowing down then its covering our head if we have short hair then yes scarves. 🤎

    Anyone, as an individual, can choose not to wear wash and goes if they're goal is length retention but to say that you should never wear your hair as-is is absurd. Also, pro-tip, stretching it by pulling it taut, while blow drying section by section will help to minimize knots and tangles if one does want to wear the style. And I mean doing this when it's wet after applying gel. Don't let it shrink up up via airdrying and then try to stretch it afterwards. The beginning story is very confusing because it doesn't even seem like you got to the wash and go part? You just washed it which you would do for any style so I'm confused why it got more tangled than usual. For a wash n go you would do your normal routine that you do for any style and then add gel section by section AFTER you've already done everything else.

  • @MonicaBryant
    @MonicaBryant 8 днів тому

    I've tired wash n go's MANY times. I've watched so many tutorials and tried all the products and methods. Anthony Dickie had me using a bottle of conditioner a day thinking I was doing something. Miche said to use more water, SOAK your hair. But my hair is THICK. It's also super long now (middle of my back) and wash n go's DO NOT work for me. My hair HATES gel. I either end up crusty or crunchy. And I don't have time to sit under a dryer for a million years because that defeats the purpose. Wash n go's are not for everybody and that's okay. The people pushing it are just trying to sell products. With the time and products I wasted doing a wash n go, I could have done a twist out and been done. All these girlies with fine hair say they can't do twist outs. They say twist outs don't look right on their hair. They say twist outs don't work for them, so they do wash n gos. Well, a twist out IS my wash n go.

      @@AlopeciaFreeWithJass okay, so I did an experiment where I started off with the Anthony Dickie method, but for me I needed to add gel. I washed my hair every day for six days with conditioner. The first two days I had to do detangle but after that my hair was so soft, on the seventh day, I washed my hair with a normal shampoo conditioner and with a deep conditioner. So for me, I’m currently pregnant and have two children so I don’t think I can wash my hair every day, but my hair was so moisturise in my experiment so I am now trying two days a week and my hair still gets on okay just remember whatever products you’re using should be moisturising. Just keep a record of your testing and keep an eye on what works best for you.

    I’m type 4 and am able to do a wash n go. The back of my hair is 4C, front is 4A, middle is 4B. The density of my hair is medium with fine strands. I’m not sure if that makes the wash n go easier but I absolutely love them. I do them about once a month with a fro and twists the remainder of the month. TY for this video. It’s always good to get other opinions and how our hair can react to the various styles out there.

    OMG! Much needed video! I totally agree with you! I had to learn the hard way, a wash and go is not for 4C hair! For the look I want, I have to do flat twists, two strand twists, etc. My 4C hair has to be manipulated for the style I want. I’m not the one that likes how a short fro looks on me. Thank you for this video.

      You're welcome hun❤️😀. From my experience it seems that just like you I would have to do a lot more manipulation to my hair to achieve that look. More manipulation = more breakage and hair loss for me. It's good to know that others can relate to my 4c hair struggle.☺️💖

    Wash N Go's for me are a Wash N' No! My coils tangle onto themselves too much and as you've stated, it becomes a tangled mess. I also have lost a lot of hair this way. My hair is about mid back when stretched. I believe this is what frustrates a lot of coily women because within trial and error we follow regimens that may not be for our hair and in the end don't understand why we don't see those results. I've found that twistouts are best for me. After washing and conditioning, I always use a heat protectant oil and mousse and gently (warm air holding that section) stretch my hair. After I finish all those sections, I go in again using a leave in conditioner and twist. for maintenance after I wear it out, I never pineapple. If it's only four or six twists, I re-twist in chunkier sections and pin up hair to protect ends first before putting on a silk scarf or bonnet, this helps my hair stretch as it gets fuller and It's easy to undo and fluff before I'm out the door.

      Wash N' No 😆. I totally agree with you. Everyone's hair is different and what works for some may not work for others. If you want the Wash N' Go style on 4c hair just know that it can't be done the same way as some one with 3c hair. More manipulation will be involved and that might work for some and not for others. In either case let's enjoy our hair and our beauty.😀💕❤️

    4c with high denisty, high porosity and ultra-fine strands. My wash-and go is shampoo, deep condition, apply leave in, wide-toothed or afro comb and put in a puff and go. lol! I ain't got time for gel, ( dries out my hair) raking, shingling, twirling, finger coiling and shaking. Also this is mainly in summer/beach vacation., the rest of the year my hair is protected as much as possible. My ends cannot be left to flap around in winter cold dry air or dry central heating.

    Steps for wash n Go: 1. Detangle. Use Cherry Lola or maximum hydration first. Then deep condition. Rinse. 2.section hair and use very small sections. 3. Use Leave-in. all over hair first to keep moister in while you work your beautiful curls. Work in medium sections applying mousse. Then break that section down in smaller section applying gel, ( I use Camille rose) , olive oil,shea butter or melanin hair care cream to seal in to rake fingers through small section to create curls. Continue to do this for each medium section all over head. I shake hair back and forth a couple of times. It helps. I let mine air dry. After this initial process then you can spritz in the morning with water making sure you have put it in a pineapple at night. Just spray with water and shake it down. If your hair is 4C , moisture is the key. Each time you spray with water it activates the applied products which makes you curls amazing. Remember Everybody’s hair is different so enjoy your curls. Note: you don’t need to use the cherry Lola every time but feel free to use max hydration each time. Should last up to 4-5 days

    You are basing your idea of “wash and go” on one person’s definition and the look of the final product is dependent on your curl type. 4c is not going to look like 4A is not going to look like 3anything! I have type 4 hair that has been wash and go-or wet and go daily for years. What that looks like on me is an Afro and it is a one-day style. I didn’t get the idea from your video that you detangled your hair after putting in your products. If you didn’t OF COURSE it is going to end up a tangled mess and OF COURSE it will need water or heat to detangle the mess!

    I’ve had great success with wash n gos for me But it took some trial and error The issue I would say that stumped me the most and feel like hinders alot of 4c girls trying Is that they expect the process to look the same as it would for a type 3 or 4 a girl I’ve found that looser curl patterns tend to absorb water more easily then tighter textures So I use a ton of extra water for everything From detangling to styling I also add tons of water first and then apply products on top of that And for the wash n go itself I find that working in smaller sections make its much easier But a lot of girls don’t use enough water Your hair will actually look longer when it’s completely wet because of the weight of the water Water helps to clump your curls It’s also what’s going to define your curls the most and everything else is meant to enhance or maintain what comes from water

    I clarify my hair once a month and use a moisturizing shampoo for the second wash. The water hydrates and elongates my hair. I use conditioner in the shower with water to detangle, rise and then use a leave in conditioner before I add a styling cream with a botanical gel on top. My hair is growing and healthy. I get a trim every six months.

    I’ve been trying my hand at wash n gos and I feel like I completely understand the process Especially for my hair Im not saying you need to try again but if you did The only thing I would say is to try detangling the hair with some kinda conditioner or shampoo And make sure your hair is REALLY wet….when it comes my hair I’ve found that the more water you use the BETTER And for the wash n go itself I add as much water as possible to help the hair naturally clump together and then add products on top of the water to help it hold that shape Products like gel and foam will give a more pronounced look to the curl pattern and typically last longer While creams and butters will typically have a “softer” fluffy natural curl look… Like it’s meant to look like you have very little product on the curls I only use to heat to dry my hair since it’s much quicker for me I think the main issue 4c girls have with wash n gos Is they don’t have any representation on how it would work for them So they only do it with the expectation for their hair to behave like type 3 or 4 a
